Jun 09, 2014 Thought it'd be perhaps handy to have a list of formulas not working with OS X 10.10 yet. Errors generated will be linked to where possible. The vast majority of the errors will need to be fixed upstream and should be reported upstream consequently. Terminology key: DP - Developer Preview. PB - Public Beta. GM - Golden Master. Jun 17, 2013 Apple released OSX Mavericks (10.9) Developer Preview 1 for all developers. New OSX comes with great features which we are longing for these days. Let me point out few. Tabs in Finder, Password Chain for Browsers, Better notifications and more. Today we going to show how to create Bootable USB Drive to Install OS X Mavericks.

You have to increase the default Video RAM to 128MB at least in Parallels.

Kirk... I may be picking on a bit of a nit (I once worked in a newsroom, so I've been infected by the copy-editor disease), but I see the category icon on this hint says 'Mac OS X (10.4)' even though this is a hint on 10.9. I trust this is because you don't yet have a category set up for Maverics?

Thanks for pointing it out. In the CMS, System (generic Mac OS X) is just above System 10.4, so I slipped. :-) It's fixed now.

I installed this on VMWare Fusion 5. As the article says you can only upgrade, you can't install clean. While it did install, many things didn't work like Maps. I had the new Calendar and Contacts, but no iBooks or Game Center could be found. After playing with it for about 10 minutes I got bored. This is probably the most boring upgrade since 10.8. As a matter of fact, I'm inclined to not even bother with it when it's released.

This preview is meant for developers, not for end users. For the very reason what you just stated - you do not even understand what this preview is about and what it's still missing (this info is given to developers).

It is actually easy to patch InstallESD.dmg of 'Install OS X 10.9 Developer Preview.app' to run and install Maverick on a fresh VMware virtual machine. I already pasted the instructions here: http://pastebin.com/4kG5ChsP It's just about: - converting read only disk image to read write - resizing the read write disk image - mounting the read write disk image - allowing ownership on the mounted disk image (so system files keep their ownerships) - mouting the original disk image - mouting the boot image contained in the original disk image - allowing ownership on the mounted boot image (so system files keep their ownerships) - copying the boot image content to the read write disk image - unmounting everything -> patched Maverick disk image is ready Then, you can create a Mac OS X 10.7 64-bit or OS X 10.8 64-bit virtual machine and boot using the patched disk image. Apple Installers will tell you it is not a supported installation type, but you can launch a Terminal and run the installation using command line. It is much more efficient and consume less time, but also a little more technical. Please note Guillaume Gete recently upgraded Lion Disk Maker to support Maverick DP: http://liondiskmaker.com/?p=164

Install OS X 10.9 on VMware Fusion 5 - mouse acts up
I installed the 10.9 preview over a 10.7 installation on Fusion 5.0.3. At first, it crashed at start until I managed to re-install the VMware Additions. Now it runs stable. However, double clicking with my MacBook's Trackpad isn't working well. I changed the double click interval to a longer time in the Trackpad preferences, but that only helped temporarily. After a short while, I again was not able to perform double clicks. Does anyone know of a remedy for this?
